Navadurga
Chandraghanta Devi
Lakkhi Chabutara, Chowk · CK 23/34
History & traditions
The third Navadurga takes her name from the bell-shaped crescent moon. Look for the shrine in the Chowk lanes around Chandu Nau Gali, where it is also called Chitraghanta.
The goddess’s crescent is likened to a bell, or ghanta. In the survey the same CK 23/34 address is recorded for Chitraghanta Vinayak. Give the full deity name in the Chowk lanes if you are looking for one image in particular.

PILGRIMAGE CONTEXT
Navadurga
The Kashi Navadurga yatra associates each day of Navratri with a different local form of Durga. The Kashi Khanda also describes a family pilgrimage during autumn Navratri and singles out Durga Kund. If you are following the complete yatra, arrange the days around the festival calendar and ask for the local shrine names.
SKANDA PURANA
In the Kashi Khanda
The chapter describes autumn Navaratri as a time for family pilgrimage and singles out Durga Kund. The day-by-day Navadurga shrine identifications in this guide follow Kashi’s local pilgrimage tradition.
