PILGRIMAGE CONTEXT
Narasimha
Narasimha is the lion-man avatar of Vishnu. In his devotional story he intervenes to protect Prahlada from Hiranyakashipu. The Kashi Khanda names local Narasimha tirthas, and the survey records additional images in temples, ashrams and wall niches. The shrine’s epithet and host precinct distinguish the individual stop.
