Navadurga
Katyayani Devi
Atmavireshwar Temple, Scindia Ghat · CK 7/158
History & traditions
The sixth form of Durga is associated with the defeat of Mahishasura. Her shrine shares the Atmavireshwar precinct, so ask for Katyayani when you arrive.
Katyayani bears the name of the sage Katyayana in the devotional tradition. Atmavireshwar is a useful stop for several traditions: the field survey also places Veer Madhava and Mitra Vinayak at the same precinct.

PILGRIMAGE CONTEXT
Navadurga
The Kashi Navadurga yatra associates each day of Navratri with a different local form of Durga. The Kashi Khanda also describes a family pilgrimage during autumn Navratri and singles out Durga Kund. If you are following the complete yatra, arrange the days around the festival calendar and ask for the local shrine names.
