New Vishwanath Temple
Banaras Hindu University
History & traditions
The university setting is a useful contrast with Vishwanath Gali. Malaviya planned a campus shrine for the university, and the Birla family helped realise it. Its open campus approach and tall tower make it easier to recognise from a distance than many shrines in the old city.
